Playing together in Posty’s home outside of Utah, they looked and sounded like a garage band had invaded a mansion, at their best when ripping through Nirvana’s harder material like the blistering Nevermind cuts ‘Breed’ and ‘In Bloom’. He was joined by guitarist Nick Mac and bassist Brian Lee (playing the roles of Pat Smear and Krist Novoselic respectively) and, in a winning move, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, one of the few kit-smashers around that can convincingly mimic Dave Grohl’s thundering playing while still adding his own punky flair. But he stepped it up by recruiting a fairly decent backing band. He’s covered Nirvana before, typically alone with an acoustic guitar, which had many wondering if he’d just be doing the same kind of unplugged thing we’ve seen time and again in livestreams over the past few locked-down months. Posty, dressed in a spiky choker and frock as a nod to Cobain’s transgressive fashion, doesn’t mess with the arrangements he sticks close to the originals.
